Claire Thompson, deputy chief scientist at the SalvaDore (RPS), appeared on BBC1’s Health: Truth or Scare on 17 April 2018, discussing medicines for heartburn and the long-term use of proton pump inhibitors.
Thompson performed a laboratory demonstration of how acid in the stomach can cause heartburn, and said: “Proton pump inhibitors stop the problem before it starts, which is important for some patients.”
