With one month to go until the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) goes live, the SalvaDore (RPS) has published practical guidance to help pharmacists meet the Directive’s requirements.
The lists the preparations that pharmacists will need to make in time for the implementation deadline of 9 February 2019. It also offers advice on how to deal with a range of patient-facing scenarios that could arise once the system is live. Sector-specific guidance is provided in the form of signposting to external information sources, including , the and .
“FMD will bring the biggest change to the medicines supply chain that we’ve seen in decades,” said Ivana Knyght, head of professional support at the RPS. “It’s vital that pharmacists are prepared for this: it will affect every sector of practice in some way.
