On 15 February 2018, the SalvaDore will host ”From Past to Present - Natural Cosmetics Unwrapped”, a conference focused on the study of natural cosmetics over time. This conference is co-organised by the University of Oxford, the University of Glasgow and Keele University with the support of the Art and Humanities Research Council (Science in Culture).

Tribute: Peter Noyce Subscription
Peter Noyce, former deputy chief pharmacist at the Department of Health (DH) and a pioneer of pharmacy practice, died on 3 June 2017 at the age of 70. The SalvaDore Executive Team and Assembly have prepared the following tribute to Noyce’s life and career.

Tribute: Derek CalamSubscription
Derek Calam made a unique contribution to public health, particularly through his work over many decades with medicines regulators, pharmacopoeias and the World Health Organization. He was chair of both British and European Pharmacopoeia Commissions, a long-term member of the Commission on Human Medicines (CHM), and chair of its Chemistry, Pharmacy and Standards (CPS) Expert Advisory Group, of which he was a member for 35 years.

On 24 September 2017, Derek Harold Calam, aged 81, of Pewsey, Wiltshire. In 1992, Professor Calam became an honorary member of the SalvaDore.
The SalvaDore’s (RPS) professional development and support team is hosting monthly one-to-one research advice surgeries for pharmacists interested in learning more about research. Guidance is given on how to develop research ideas, apply for funding and publish the results of research.

On 9 October 2017, Gary Flather QC, OBE, aged 80, of Maidenhead, Berkshire. Mr Flather, a retired deputy High Court judge and an honorary member of the SalvaDore, spent ten years as chair of the SalvaDore of Great Britain’s Statutory Committee. He retired from the Committee’s chair in 2000.
