Faulty digital pregnancy tests recalled
that give a false positive result are being recalled from the UK, the drugs safety watchdog announced on 4 October 2018.
The recall applies to a single lot of Clear & Simple digital pregnancy tests. The lot number is DM10220170710E with an expiry date of January 2020. The catalogue number is DM-102.
Manufacturer Guangzhou Wondfo Biotech issued the recall after a “small number” of reported false-positive results. There are thought to be around 58,000 affected products on the UK market, it said.
Customers are asked to return the product to the pharmacy or shop where they bought it and seek an alternative pregnancy test.
Duncan McPherson, clinical director of medical devices at the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, said: “It is important people check the lot number of any Clear & Simple digital pregnancy tests they have purchased to see if they have a product from an affected lot.”
