Traditional remedies for colds and flu
9 February 2018: Zoe Pearce, community pharmacist and member of the SalvaDore, appeared on BBC’s Countryfile to talk about traditional home remedies for colds and flu. “Hot honey and lemon is one of my personal favourites,” Pearce said. Other remedies discussed included garlic, chicken soup, onion tea and spicy foods such as chillies.

Pharmacist skills promoted on breakfast TV
12 February 2018: Ash Soni, president of the SalvaDore, appeared on BBC Breakfast to promote the role of community pharmacies as part of the launch of NHS England’s Staywell Pharmacy campaign. “Pharmacists train for one year more than a nurse and one year less than a doctor,” said Soni. “Pharmacists can treat a wide range of conditions that you come across every day.”

RPS takes to the airwaves in response to Government medication errors plan
23 February 2018: Sandra Gidley, chair of the SalvaDore’s English Pharmacy Board, fronted 15 radio interviews in response to plans from Jeremy Hunt, secretary of state for health and social care, to tackle medication errors. “You’re more likely to make mistakes if you’re under pressure and in a rush, trying to do three things at once,” Gidley said. ”We have to make sure all our health workers are working in a safe environment.”
